You will be amazed at the difference in the way your car sounds and behaves as you ramp up from idle to feeway speeds. If you haven't yet, also consider calling British Vacuum Unit and replacing the old, hardened vacuum advance unit on the dizzy. When this is working, you won't believe that you thought the engine was fine without it.Jim in NHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17673837554632599899noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5055369463790121367.post-52224596837108890642012-12-13T12:36:08.049-05:002012-12-13T12:36:08.049-05:00You clearly know how to handle cars by the way you...You clearly know how to handle cars by the way you changed the oil. It is great that you maintain your own car, as this can certainly save you money compared to hiring someone to do the job. But, like what you said, some engines are not that easy to handle. So, it would still be better if the task will be carried out by professionals from a reputable dealership. Otherwise, you may risk damaging your car, which will certainly be costly.

@Timmy Radloff
Timmy Radloffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14633811891553800528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5055369463790121367.post-4369880776208172832012-10-04T13:35:32.403-04:002012-10-04T13:35:32.403-04:00You need to take into consideration the type of oi...You need to take into consideration the type of oil, since oil heats up and changes its viscosity through running engines.10W40 oil is recommended when having problems with engine leaks because it provides more protection and escape slowly through wears. For first timers, these are the tools that you must have when changing oil: a ratchet, oil filter wrench, recycle container, funnel, new oil filter, new oil and a clean rags.

Patrick MontgomeryAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15845621989006913870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5055369463790121367.post-56900080756578897192012-10-01T14:15:09.552-04:002012-10-01T14:15:09.552-04:00You sound like a professional! You can even use it around the side curtains, if you really want to go to the trouble.

I saw in your previous posts that your carpet is glued down. You really need to be able to remove the carpet if you're going to drive in heavy rain. Water will come up through the floor and soak the carpet from underneath.

The one thing I don't do anymore is drive with the top down at night when it's raining. The lack of visibility is too significant.

Another thing I wanted to ask about from a previous post is if you've eaten barbecue from the Aldie General Store? We stopped there on a R2R test run, and then ate there again during the rallye itself. Excellent ribs! We probably live less than 10 miles from each other and this car carrier ordeal (which is not too unfamiliar) got me thinking that maybe we could share one at some point in the future. I too bought an Orient Red 58 looking to do the minor stuff and having others "help" me with the not so minor stuff. It has been an exercise in patience, blood, sweat, tears and laughter. I would like to do more of the latter but realize I might be several months before that happens.

Keep writing!

Juan - in2mgas@gmail.comin2MGAshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06800286516233966490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5055369463790121367.post-24839189389315309312012-05-02T08:15:01.850-04:002012-05-02T08:15:01.850-04:00If you promise not to tell, that along with replac...If you promise not to tell, that along with replacing the vacuum unit (from your guy up there at British Vacuum Units) are also "post pending"...MGA Geoffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12862014819167854954noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5055369463790121367.post-50083869731517053642012-05-02T07:20:07.690-04:002012-05-02T07:20:07.690-04:00Have you ever considered stamp collecting??!!Have you ever considered stamp collecting??!!Russ & Rozhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04979934048442827642noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5055369463790121367.post-57980086511059282032012-04-29T23:55:21.669-04:002012-04-29T23:55:21.669-04:00Geoff,
